Box truck crashes into Elyria home on West River Road
A Freightliner box truck and a Chevrolet Equinox collided at West River Road and Third Street in Elyria. The box truck then crashed through the wall of 57 Third St, injuring three people including the Equinox driver and a passenger. The truck occupants were treated at local hospitals. a toddler in the Equinox was uninjured.

Elyria Residents Push Nonpartisan City Elections Referendum
A cross party Elyria group filed a notice to pursue a charter amendment via referendum on the November ballot to make mayor, law director, finance director and City Council races nonpartisan. The four member petition team includes Clifton Oliver, Corey Kirkpatrick, Christine Anderson and Jeanne Williams. Oliver says the move lets voters learn candidates beyond party labels.

Monkey racing removed from Avon Summer Festival
Avon Summer Festival canceled the Banana Derby act after PETA concerns. The event, run by KevaWorks at Crushers Stadium from June 14 to 23, featured capuchin monkeys strapped to dogs racing on a track.
