Amherst Township trustees approve a 25 intersection lighting project with the Edison Co. A 900 dollar yearly rights estimate with 24 lamps at 2 500 lumens and one 4 000 lumen lamp at Oberlin Rd and State Route 113. Community Mausoleum Planned by South Amherst Cemetery Board
Final arrangements have been made with the South Amherst cemetery board to build a community mausoleum in town. The structure will use Amherst Sandstone and marble exteriors, reinforced concrete interiors, and copper and bronze metal work. Since Mausolus’s era such strengthened double walls are nearly indestructible and will endure beyond present grave markers. Citizens must choose burial method: ground burial, cremation, or mausoleum burial with white stone compartments.
