St Johns Church History and Growth in Lorain County
Lorain County church history recalls St Johns origins as a Liverpool preaching station. Organized October 1 1852 under Rev John Stret the congregation later built a two story parsonage at Broad Street and Wart Avenue and adopted a full time pastor from Liverpool. By 1874 the church supported a resident pastor and erected a school building where classes were held. A modern church was dedicated in 1916 at Sau Third Street and the church has flourished under various pastors and teachers, with a communicant membership around 489.
