In Montauk New York UPI reports four days of deep sea chase for a Great White feared wounded after a sighting near Long Island. A fisherman described a fresh dorsal wound and radio chatter said the shark remained elusive and out of harpoon range.
An Air Canada DC-9 carrying 107 aboard skidded off runway 23 left at Toronto International and broke into three sections after the pilot aborted takeoff. Three killed, at least 45 injured. The flight to Vancouver with 102 passengers and 5 crew suffered engine failure leading to the aborted takeoff.
Heavy thundershowers dumped record rainfall across Lorain and 13 other Northern Ohio counties prompting a flash flood alert. Power outages hit hundreds as lightning struck a 12,500 volt line in Lorain and winds caused short outages near Gore Orphanage Road. Rain totals reached 1.70 inches in North Ridgeville with June records shattered. hot humid conditions and more storms forecast with highs near 90.

Victor D Yang, 29, a resident physician at Elyria Memorial Hospital, died in a drowning accident at a Brighton Township pond during a farewell picnic with fellow doctors.
