Pilot 77 forgets gear in 1959 Put-In-Bay crash
At South Bass Island Put-In-Bay airport a single engine Cherokee Comanche crashed after the pilot forgot to lower the landing gear. John C. Halleck 77 and Joyce Osterud 68 both from Bowling Green were uninjured. The craft skidded 830 feet along the runway before stopping and the airport was closed for two hours for removal. The State Highway Patrol will forward findings to the FAA.
