The St Anthony Fraternity of the Third Order of St Francis met at 2 30 in St Mary s Church Sunday afternoon following postulant instruction in the Blue Room and novice instruction in the church hall Seven postulants were received into the order A plenary indulgence was gained by them and by all for attendance at the meeting The indulgenced blessing was given because the meeting took place during the oc cas e of Corpus Christi H was announced that the indulgen ced blessing may also be gained on Friday the feast of the Sacred Heart also Saturday the feast of Sts Peter and Paul and on the feast of the Visitation July 2 prayers were asked for Mrs Ralph Plas and for Nicholas Resar who are ill Monsignor Wm L Newton spiritual director chose to speak on devotion due the Sacred Heart from the Third Order especially in the case of St Anthony Fraternity for it is in the Francisan Sacred Heart Province He urged worship of the Heart of Jesus in both Divine and Human Nature and that the Heart beats with a Divine Life and Divine Love He said Jesus wants us to love Him with our will and to love others out of love for Him The next meeting will be July 28 when novices will make their professions and a social hour

YWCA hosted its annual picnic at Holly Park Dearborn Michigan. Richard Caven a 25 year old Dearborn police officer escaped serious injury after a car struck his car roof he was pitched into the air landed on the hood and roof. He suffered only cuts and bruises as he slid off onto the ground hosts Mrs Carl Wooding and other hostesses planned a summer break then resume in fall.
