Celeste vetoes parts of Ohio landfill law while backing cargo rules

Gov Richard Celeste used a line item veto to strike out sections banning out of state waste shipments and a 75 dollar per ton fee despite approving the rest of the landfill measure and a companion bill on hazardous cargo transport. He called the vetoes ill considered and politically motivated before official signing ceremonies in Akron and Miamisburg.

Inflation erodes real value of Cleveland area homes 1987

The Urban Center of Cleveland State University reports median prices in 1987 rose in western suburbs to 73 5 thousand and in eastern suburbs to 66 thousand while Cleveland's median fell to 35 1 thousand after inflation. Blind vendor duped by imposter at Cleveland office stand

Vern Pillevant a legally blind 64 year old in Lakewood was robbed of 640 dollars by a man posing as his Ohio Lottery agent. The impostor entered the 12th floor concession in the Federal Office Building, opened a briefcase, shuffled papers and slipped cash from a lottery cash box into his pockets.
