Misplaced bids in a challenging bridge match echo poor judgment
In a 1967 world championship match between Thailand and Venezuela, Board No 1 showcased faulty decision making. At one table Venezuela opened with a diamond and North doubled, South bid one heart, and the Thai North jumped to three beams. South failed to recognize game values and passed, missing four hearts. At the other table, South correctly bid two hearts after Pass Pass 1C, reaching game and securing a favorable result.
