Curious Tale of Playwrights and Studio Ploys
A fragmentary reminiscence traces a lost era of show business. A young playwright submits plays to producers, is rejected, then retyped under another byline. By a twist, a famed writer revisits the work, and a studio executive proclaims talent and collaboration, citing scientific bravado to rationalize creative merit amid industry backbiting. The piece blends gossip, ego, and a nod to Luigi Pirandello.
