Vermilion Schools Drug Testing Plan Faces Criticism
Vermilion Schools hear from ACLU executive director Christine Link who argues the proposed student drug testing violates Fourth Amendment rights and wastes resources. She notes Dublin Schools ended their program after costing tax funds $35,000 yearly with only 11 positives of 1,473 tested, and cites a 2003 Michigan study showing no impact. Superintendent Pempin will discuss points at the July 2 meeting. board member Sid Jordan warns of potential legal challenges despite 90 percent parent support for universal testing.
