Wetlands plan linked to new airport runway near Columbia Township
Eorain County Metro Parks and Cleveland Hopkins Airport push for a 9000 foot runway that would destroy 90 acres of wetlands. Federal rules require restoration of 300 percent within the Black and Rocky River watersheds across Lorain, Cuyahoga, and Geauga Counties, including about 200 acres along the Rocky River in Columbia Township and a 350 acre Metro Parks site. Dan Martin notes agencies have studied the area for years and remain involved.
