Engle Named Maplewood Principal in Amherst Area
Arthur W. Engle of 315 Corneil Street Amherst is named principal of Maplewood School in Elyria Township West River Road. He replaces James Hales who moved to South Amherst as superintendent. Engle’s Maplewood contract starts July 1 1951 after serving as Belden school superintendent and Amherst High School teacher. He is known in athletic circles in Amherst and is a graduate of Iowa State University with studies at Oberlin College and Ohio State University.

Fifteen Young Men Leave Elyria for Induction

Deputies obtained signed confessions from Glen Jones 44 of Westlake and two 17 year old Cleveland youths after apprehending them at Fields Tavern in Fields Corners. The trio planned the break during a Sunday tavern gathering and were arrested at 1 45 am Thursday following a neighbor's telephone tip about a broken window. Jones claimed one youth was his nephew.

Soldier from Avon to Arrive Home from Korea
Private Carlos L. Hanchett, son of Mrs Harriet Oberg Lear-Nagle, Avon, was killed in Korea August 12. His body will reach the San Francisco Port of Embarkation aboard the Valdosta Victory. He attended Elyria High School and enlisted in March three years ago. His last letter, dated July 4, 1950, was from Japan where he served with a Cavalry Regiment.
