A hearing on all county department budgets will be held by the commissioners on August 6.

Smallest Pig Crop Since 1940 Seen
Washington—the Agriculture Department estimated today that the 1946 pig crop would total 1 00,000 head, a decrease of about six percent from last year and the smallest since 1940. The estimate was based on a spring pig crop of 2,324,000 head and an anticipated fall crop of 29,176,000 head. Farrowing intentions suggest a continued pork shortage into next summer. Last year’s pig crop totaled 86,714,000 head, with a fall crop of 38,144,000 and spring 51,570,000. Hog numbers over six months old on farms as of June 1 were 22,959,000 head, down 10 percent from a year ago.

A blind 1-year-old St Louis boy, a pond scout, is highlighted for his achievements and service within the Missouri School for the Blind community. Hendren serves as troop librarian and, due to diabetes, follows a strict diet and insulin regimen while helping fellow scouts during hikes. Two Fined By Mayor On Driving Charges
Mayor A R Agate fined and suspended driving privileges for six months for Thomas Murphy and Curtis Mitchell both of Bay Village after they were arrested June 21 for driving while intoxicated.
