Vintage Duo keep the melody with two elderly entertainers
Betty Sanders and Charlene Firestone, both in their 70s, perform as the Vintage Duo blending nostalgic 40s songs with humor. Sanders sings while Firestone plays keyboard. They travel Lorain County, often give free shows, and urge audiences not to age by calendar but by joy and fun.

Ohio college presidents dodge sin tax pressure on Riffe
Gov. George Voinovich urged Ohio's college and university presidents to press House Speaker Vern Riffe to back a 125 million dollar increase in alcohol and tobacco taxes. Presidents avoided direct political entanglement, pledging to back joint solutions while warning of potential higher education cuts if taxes fail. The Inter-University Council warned of a budget crunch, with higher education already hit 7.5 percent and facing further cuts. Senate support leans Republican, but House Democrats hold a strong majority, leaving passage uncertain.
