Columbia school board hires psychologist and extends coaching contracts
The Columbia Board of Education approved a one year contract for psychologist Elaine Semper at 24800 for 200 days in 1985 86 funded half by the state and half by federal funds. Extracurricular stipends were set for coaches and advisers including Grimes Lorinez Wolfe Hershey Eiben Swanekamp Use Avenmary and Deborah Hershey. Salary increases were given to Gullett Bing Mattox Grills and Shearer. Douglas Simmons was hired as Copopa custodian at 586 hourly plus retirement pickup and Tim Jadud hired as summer help at 350 per hour. Barbara Shearer received retirement service credit and paid her share.

South Amherst board weighs levy for roof project
The South Amherst Board of Education may ask voters for a levy at the November ballot to fund roof repairs costing 20 000 to 24 000 dollars. Treasurer Susan Moore said a recommendation will be drawn up by Superintendent Lawrence Fallon after a July meeting. Half of the high school roof was redone this spring. The board schedules a July 17 budget hearing at 7 15 p.m. to review the Jan 1 to June 30 1986 period.

Oberlin man guilty in child abuse case
Oberlin man Steve E. Owens 31 of 26 W. Vinett pleaded no contest to child endangering after a Lorain County Children’s Services complaint. Oberlin Municipal Court judge Martin Heberling found him guilty. Sentencing is set for July 8 at 10 a.m. Owens remains in Lorain County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Elyria Fence Wins Penfield Tennis Court Fence Bid
Penfield Township Trustees awarded Elyria Fence Co. a 7 770 dollar contract to fence the tennis courts. Site Technology of Silver Lake bid 10 980 for the 12 foot fence and 8 950 for 12 foot ends and 6 foot sides. Trustees set July 2 at 8 20 p m for the public hearing on the proposed 1986 budget.
