Lorain Fire Damages Telephone Office and Cuts Service

A dawn blaze at Lorain Telephone Co in South Lorain caused an estimated 50 000 damage and knocked out service to over 3000 customers. Fire officials suspect a short circuit in high amperage trunk lines on Seneca Ave between East 29th and East 30th streets started the fire, with flames spreading to ceilings before the fire department arrived and contained the blazes.

SAN FRANCISCO AP Molotov apparently agreed to a proposal that would let President Eisenhower chair the first meeting of next month's Geneva summit conference. The disclosure followed reports of minor damage to a fire damaged building. H E Hageman, president of the telephone company, said crews will work around the clock to restore service on the South Lorain lines, with some lines already opened and others to be back in operation soon.

Elyria Lineman Fatal Electrical Accident at Columbia Twp

Anthony Folks 52 a Collier Construction lineman was killed by 4160 volt line while repairing for Ohio Edison at Emerson and Lafayette roads in Columbia Township. He died at Berea Community Hospital after the 1 30 p m incident. Folks from Florida had lived in Elyria briefly with wife Helen and eight children in Bakersfield California. He had 31 years as a lineman and was described by a coworker as very careful. Body taken to Cuyahoga County Morgue for next of kin in California.
