School Grounds To Be Improved In Elyria Area
Approval of four thousand thirty dollars for an FERA works division project was announced in Columbus by the State Relief Administration. The plan covers grading and improving grounds at Elyria and several nearby schools with a 20 man daily crew and use of slag and cinders. The project spans eight to ten weeks and will be paid from labor costs by FERA, part of 24 such projects statewide employing 799 workers and totaling over one hundred seventy two thousand dollars in wages. Scout Dies In Attempt To Save Pat
In Richmond Michigan a first class scout died diving to rescue a companion from a sinking homemade boat in a cemetery pond. High School Boy Shot And Killed In Middletown Incident
Robert Stabler a 17 year old Middletown High School drum major was shot three times with a .22 caliber rifle and died before statements could be taken. James Ballard 22 a widely known athlete was held without bond after confessing he thought Stabler was a prowler heard around his home. Ballard said he fired when a man walked toward him and fled. Stabler was found at the gate of a baseball grounds about 400 yards from Ballard's home. Ballard is a baseball and football player and a wrestler.
