Ford study finds higher loan rates for Hispanic buyers
A Ford Motor Credit analysis of over 6 million car loans from 1997 to 2001 shows Hispanic borrowers paid higher interest than non Hispanics. The study, paid for by lawyers suing Ford for discrimination, attributes the gap to dealer finance charges and markups, with Hispanics facing larger markups and fewer low rate offers. Ford rejects the findings as flawed.

Southwest to enforce two-seat rule for larger passengers
Southwest Airlines will start strictly enforcing its customers of size policy on June 26, requiring larger passengers who cannot fit between armrests to purchase a second ticket. Refunds may be available if the plane is not full. The policy, previously rarely enforced, targets obese travelers and could provoke backlash from customers and advocacy groups.
