French Delegates Receive German Terms for Armistice
Bordeaux dispatch reports French delegates contacted Berlin and received armistice conditions within hours after Marshal Petain appealed for calm and claimed defeat was inevitable. Berlin papers predicted surrender of all French forces and ships to German control as radio Rome described orders to return to ports. Petain had argued defeat was unavoidable since June 13.

Ohio bank robbers sentenced to long terms in federal court
In Columbus Ohio on June 20 two southeastern Ohio bank robbers received maximum federal prison terms. William Curtis 19 of Summerfield Ohio and Mike Merkich 21 of Weirton West Virginia were jailed for 25 years each for the July 1939 Salem Ohio and the December 1938 Senecaville National Bank robberies. Judge Mel Underwood warned they faced life otherwise. Curtis had U S Army service in Panama. Merkich said he received 835 of the stolen money. Morrison of Summerfield Ohio pleaded guilty to receiving stolen funds from the Senecaville robbery. James Dougal of Chicago got a year and a day for attempting to escape from the federal reformatory.

Rev Will Foster Dies After Short Illness at 48
The Rev Will J Foster 48 pastor of the Elyria Church of Christ for four and a half years died at Elyria Memorial Hospital at 10 53 am after a short illness. He came to Elyria from Mt Vernon in 1935 and served in Wadsworth Crooksville Dayton and Mt Vernon. He was active in temperance work and state church bodies. He lived at 105 Harvard Ave and is survived by his wife and two daughters Mary Eleanor and Audrey. The body was taken to Sudro Curtiss Funeral Home with funeral arrangements pending.
