Mrs Sam Nagy bound over to the grand jury after noon by Mayor Jones on illegal possession of liquor charges. Bond set at 1000 dollars. she released after furnishing bond. In a related raid at Gulf road Frank Gerhardinger admitted ownership of a still found in his garage and was fined 500 dollars and costs, to be held until payment.
A mob of more than 300 stormed Savannah Georgia's jail after a Black man accused of assaulting a white woman was seized from the building. Gov Hardwick declared martial law as state militia joined local officers, one man Claude Parker, died and several others injured. The crowd dispersed after Parker's death with officers firing into the crowd. the mob had planned to free the prisoner.
June 20. The brokerage firm of Zimmer an Forsay announced its afternoon failure. The firm did extensive international banking and exchange business.
Cleveland dispatch reports Clifford Heatham of Akron was sentenced by Judge Paul James to five years in the federal penitentiary after being convicted of violating the narcotic act.
Asa C. Candler known as the Coca Cola king married May Little Ragin a public stenographer in a small chapel ceremony at Emery University Atlanta Georgia. Only relatives and close friends attended.
The Holy Cross Catholic church corner stone event on West avenue draws officials from Toledo Cleveland Lorain and Grafton with lodges in attendance. Rt Rev Bishop Schrembs Rev Rucszynsky and Father Kuda of Grafton spearhead a parade with three bands and priests from the region. Donations for parade autos invited via T J Novak at 6394.
June 20 in the house of commons H Becker urged retaliation by Great Britain for conditions at Ellis Island. Foreign Secretary Ronald McNeill said Britain seeks better conditions at Ellis Island immigration station but retaliation is not feasible. British complaints over the treatment of British immigrants at Ellis Island have persisted.

The Semi Annual Oberlin College Board of Trustees meeting of June 18 1923 approved 309 degrees and diplomas for graduates adopted a 1923 24 budget of 783000 and announced faculty changes Dr Lucien C Warner received a fifty year service medal new appointments included Whitelaw R Morrison as Professor of Hygiene and Physical Education and Director of the Men s Gymnasium Leaves of absence were granted to several professors and deans were reshuffled continuing teaching at Oberlin College in Ohio.
Louis Featherly, 45, an Italian resident of 45 West Avenue, suffered severe injuries yesterday when his right hand was caught in a ceiling machine at Columbia Steel Co. His hand and part of his arm were crushed, police summoned an ambulance, and he was taken to a hospital. Relatives are being sought. He has a wife and family in Italy and a possible cousin in Lorain. Doctors will try to save his hand from amputation.
Police seized forty two cartons containing 1 008 bottles of Canadian beer stored in a barn on the Frank N Wetzler property in Stover. Wetzler was arrested and charged with possession of intoxicants.
In Winnsboro Texas Mr and Mrs Chester Chapman and W K Bradford were found shot to death in the Chapman home. They wore only night clothes with Bradford shoeless in the street. An automatic shotgun and a pistol were used. Chapman aged 30 was the son of J L Chapman a commissioner of insurance and banking.
A Cleveland heat wave has claimed twelve lives across the state with drownings in Lake Erie and streams as people seek relief from the heat. In Cleveland three deaths are linked to the surge while Cincinnati Piqua Conneaut and other towns report fatalities. Akron records Peter Giaccheania, 30, dead after collapse at Firestone.
President Harding left Washington for what is described as the most ambitious journey of a president. The roughly ten week trip will cover rail and water travel across the continent, include speeches, and visits to Canada and Panama. He will inspect two key national possessions and campaign implications loom for next year.
Miss Mamie Ward aged 29 died this morning at her mother's home 221 Foster Avenue after a two year illness. She is survived by her mother Mrs Margaret Ward and a brother John. Funeral services are Friday at 9 from St Agnes church with burial in St Marys cemetery

Lorain County Savings & Trust Co takes an option on Dr E E Sheffield's Second street office property for about 35000. The deal by broker B M ODonnell will place the bank behind its main building and Topliff hotel, expanding access on Second Street and allowing future enlargement as needed. Dr Sheffield plans to move his family to California, with his eldest daughter already there.
Howard Smallwood eighteen from Ravenna fell off a freight train at the B&O crossing yesterday afternoon while boarding a WN. C. train. He was taken to Memorial Hospital and treated for bruises with no broken bones, then discharged.
Miss Thelma Chrysler of New York City reports the loss of a bracelet valued at $10,000. Police are assisting but hold little hope of recovering it.
Oberlin College alumni held a torchlight parade and illumination night that drew about 10 000 visitors. The procession along Professor Street featured red fire and lanterns, with bands, costumes, and stunts. The 1913 class led, with 150 Glenville High girls band, and the Hudson Memorial fund was shown.

The Shriners Auto Caravan, now on its California return trip, heads to Elyria with Captain Bernard McMahan at the wheel of the Lincoln touring car. McMahan has logged over 63 000 miles on the vehicle, which plans June 22 arrival in Elyria after starting from Oakland and visiting Washington for the imperial council meeting.
At the state fair grounds in Columbus 20000 Knights of Pythias Pythian sisters and Dokxies gathered for jubilee day and to initiate 1000 candidates. A 10000 strong parade led by Colonel Robert Haubrich passed through downtown with Governor Donsey and grand lodge officials attending. Speeches field meet and drills planned this afternoon.
Officer Obitta arrested Sarah Arm 23 and Johanles Than for dis orderly conduct after they were found wandering at midnight near East Avenue claiming to search for the law. The couple, not married, lived at 304 Pine Street in a house owned by the Northern Central railroad. Mayor Jones ordered more occupants of the Pine Street house questioned and the case continued to clear the place.
Akron fire crews fought through noon as embers from a blaze yesterday and today destroyed the storage warehouses of East Akron Lumber Summit and Furnace Crests. The loss is estimated at 360000 with several firms including Lowenthal Scrap Bergman Plotkin Bedding and Main Coal affected. A distant London earthquake note appears in the same despatch.
