McDonald's US Restaurant Count Shrinks After Decades
McDonald's plans to close more U.S. locations than it opens this year, a first since at least 1970, amid competition from Five Guys, Chipotle, and newer better burger chains. Becca Hary noted the net reduction will be minimal versus about 14,300 U.S. units. CEO Steve Easterbrook outlined restructuring to cut bureaucracy and move nimbler. Even with closures, McDonald's remains the largest U.S. hamburger chain with more than twice the outlets of Burger King.

Analysts see several reasons for Colt's slide to bankruptcy
Analysts blame Colt Defense bankruptcy on misreading the police firearms market and weak civilian sales after a spike, plus government contract losses that cut revenue. The West Hartford maker warned liquidity pressures will persist as it owes up to 500 million dollars to creditors and faces reduced military and police sales.
