Columbia High Considers In House Driver Education Program
Columbia School Board moves to run driver education in house at Columbia High School for 1987 88 with an estimated cost around 2000 and a supplemental contract for instructors. The board also approves joining a gas consortium for a second year with a 250 feasibility study and accepts several donations for athletics and chorus. Seven students attended an indoor track event in Columbus earning five medals and a moment of silence was held for long time board member Gilbert Heinrichs killed in a tractor accident. A senior only day is added to the 1987 88 calendar on August 31 allowing seniors to graduate the Sunday before school closes provided it counts as a school day.

Suit against lawyer dropped by doctors
A malpractice suit filed in Lorain County in 1986 against Elyria lawyer Melinda Hardman was dismissed at the request of a group of doctors. The doctors had sued Hardman for 15 million over a 1985 lawsuit she filed against them. No reason was given for the doctors decision to drop the suit.
