Lorain County Commissioners unanimously approve a permanent 0.5 percent sales tax effective July 1 to cover a nearly $1 million shortfall and fund capital improvements. A referendum would require 6,300 signatures by Aug. 22 to place the measure on the November ballot.
Harshaw Filtrol attorneys filed complaints in Lorain County Common Pleas charging striking workers with contempt of court for violating a judge order. The claims allege slingshot fire, object throwing at a guard, and blocking vehicles at the plant. A union spokesman denied the allegations.
