Sunoco to spin off coke unit and boost shares
Sunoco plans to spin off its metallurgical coke business as SunCoke Energy in the first half of 2011 to unlock value. Sunoco expects its refining segment to post a quarterly profit for the first time since 2009, aided by improved market conditions and tighter costs. The split creates independent access to capital markets for SunCoke, with operations in Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and a new Middletown plant.
