Hafner to sit as Indians open nine-game interleague tour

The Indians will be without hot hitter Travis Hafner for nine straight interleague games starting Friday in Pittsburgh due to the National League rules. Hafner has been productive recently but will not play first base due to infield limitations and health risk. Cleveland's offense has surged, boosting the team despite Hafner's absence, with Trevor Crowe sidelined briefly and Michael Brantley continuing his hot streak in Triple-A as prospects show strong form.

Santana added an RBI single as Cleveland’s runners fell short. The Mets, on a six-game win streak, hold the majors’ best record over 22 games.
