Police unions denounce Elyria spa probe in full page ad
The Fraternal Order of Police and Elyria Police Patrolmen's Association voted to buy full page newspaper ads to condemn the Shang Hai Health Spa prostitution probe. They said neither group approved of the undercover investigation nor had knowledge of it, citing public image damage and a Chronicle-Telegram poll showing 16 to 1 opposition. Lt. Michael Killean testified to sexual acts with a spa worker during the probe, and Ae Chae Whitehead was convicted on two prostitution counts and one solicitation. Whitehead awaits appeal after a 30 day sentence. Police Chief Rodger Griffith called the move opportunistic and criticized officers who did not publicly condemn the investigation.

Drought Stricken Midwest Faces limited Rain Relief
Light rain on drought affected Ohio farmlands provides little relief as showers move through the Midwest. Only 0.06 inch fell in Greater Cleveland with a dry five day outlook.
