Columbia Gas Faces Question On Pipe Space For Self Help Gas
Columbus reports state officials will press Columbia Gas System executives on why pipelines lack room for vel from independent gas dealers to independent users under the self help program. Initiated three years ago after a natural gas shortage forced curtailments to industrial users, the program let major industries contract with independents and have Columbia Gas Transmission Corp transport the gas for a fee. Since early May the utility has refused most self help industrial gas, claiming a surge in demand and higher prices have filled capacity.
