Elyria Boy Killed By Train On Railroad Trestle
A 14 year old Elyria youth Jimmy W Allen was fishing from the north side of a Norfolk and Western trestle over the Huron River when two engines sounded and he ran as the train struck him. He suffered a fractured skull pelvis and multiple injuries and died at Sandusky Memorial Hospital. Deputy coroner Dr Richard Blackman noted a south side platform existed but the boy chose the opposite side.
