Lorain vacant property registry faces banks’ slow compliance
Lorain officials report banks and foreclosure firms have largely ignored a January effective vacant property registry designed to reimburse taxpayers for code violations and maintenance. Only a handful have posted the required $10,000 bonds in the first three months, with fines up to 1,000 and daily penalties for noncompliance.
