Ohio tests pheromone flakes to curb gypsy moth spread
The Ohio Department of Agriculture is releasing tiny green plastic flakes treated with a pheromone to confuse male gypsy moths and prevent mating. The tactic, used in other states, aims to eradiate populations and covers 43,000 acres in Pike and Adams counties as well as Mercer County. The flakes are harmless to humans and animals and help explain recent defoliation from the moths.
