A state analyst says Lorain County residents will pay under 75 cents weekly more due to a 0.5 percent sales tax increase from 5.5 to 6 percent, effective Aug 1. For a $25,000 earner the extra annual tax is about $25. for $50,000 it is around $40. The county gets 1 percent, the state 5 percent.
James B. Simko said Kimberly Simko and her boyfriend Donald Tucker attacked him while he rode a bicycle on Route 301 in Sheffield Village after he testified against his father John Simko Jr. in Lorain County. The elder Simko faces a July 16 sentencing panel for murder.
