Area drownings claim Lorain teen and Olmsted boy

Two drownings occurred within about five hours in Vermilion and near Wellington. The victims were David Pinkie, 5, of North Olmsted, who fell from a Vermilion marina dock, and Fred Muniz, 19, of Lorain, who drowned in a Wellington area farm pond during a Puerto Rican youth club outing. Pinkie’s body was recovered after a search and he died of accidental drowning at Lorain St. Joseph Hospital. Muniz’s body was recovered by divers near a pond on Rt. 18, taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital. the group involved had used the Burge farm for years. The incidents followed another local drowning the day before near Hawley Road.

Levingston Named Argentina’s Next Chief of State

Argentina’s three military chiefs selected Army Brig. Gen. Roberto Marcelo Levingston to be the new president. Levingston, 50, was a military attache in Washington and was a surprise choice not among the civilians or retired officers reportedly considered. Navy chief Adm Pedro Guavi announced the selection in a nationwide radio address and said the new president would assume office next Thursday.
