Indians Beaten By Yankees In Final Game
NEW YORK The Cleveland Indians headed back to their home grounds today after losing the last game of their series with the New York Yankees yesterday 5 to 3. A homer by Yogi Berra in the sixth after Joe DiMaggio had tripled produced the two runs which beat Bob Feller and gave the Yanks their lone victory of the sees. Three unearned runs came in the eighth when DiMaggio led off with his second double. DiMaggio scored on a Bearden error, and Paul Rizzuto scored McQuinn on his third homer of the year. Cleveland took a 1–0 lead in the fourth on Gordon’s double and Judnich’s single off Lopat. The Yankees totaled five runs, three unearned, with DiMaggio contributing a key double and Berra’s ninth‑inning miscue helping extend the Indians’ misfortune.
