A former Cook County Jail inmate claims she was handcuffed to a hospital bed until labor while eight months pregnant and that jail policy and sheriff actions complied with state law. The suit targets the county sheriff's office as the policy requires restraining pregnant detainees during labor and after delivery.
Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia went into lockdown as a gorilla escaped for under five minutes and assaulted a concessions worker near a pizza restaurant. About 250 visitors and 90 campers were evacuated or sheltered while two employees with guns and bird keepers responded, tranquilizing or returning the animal to its barn.
Montana woman Pleads guilty to negligent homicide and evidence tampering in the death of her 2 year old son James. She admitted placing his body in the car trunk after he allegedly fell from a high chair. The case involves long travel with the boy in the trunk and use of government checks for care expenses.
Melissa Huckaby 28, pleads not guilty in San Joaquin County Superior Court to charges in the Sandra Cantu case. She is accused of harming an 8-year-old girl, drugging a 7-year-old and a 37-year-old man, with the body of Sandra found in a nearby irrigation pond. Prosecutors urged a plea after extensive evidence review.
