Nevada sandstorm triggers fatal I 80 pileup in Humboldt County
A severe sandstorm on Interstate 80 near Winnemucca caused a 27-vehicle crash that killed a Chicago truck driver Ravi Dyer and seriously injured others. Emergency crews, including mine rescue and a charter bus, battled near zero visibility as the east-west corridor shut for hours. Humboldt General Hospital treated 26 victims with three in critical condition later transferred to Reno.

90 year old lobsterman survives sinking and swims to shore
Philip Tuttle, 90, of Great Island Harpswell Maine, swam 20 to 30 yards to Hen Island after his 26‑foot boat Queen Tut struck rocks and sank in 50 degree Gulf of Maine waters. He was treated for scrapes and hypothermia while the boat was recovered and repairs planned.
