Child Burned By Flames Saved By Her Mother
Mrs War old Rogers of 174 Bath Street was credited with saving her daughter Naomi 4 who was severely burned when her night clothes caught fire from a hot water heater yesterday at about 10 45 pm. Naomi climbed from her mother’s lap and ran to her father in the basement. Mr. Rogers left to fetch his car for visiting friends headed to Oberlin. The basement door closed behind him as the child cried for help. Mrs. Rogers grabbed a garment from a nearby hanger and smothered the flames, then rushed Naomi to Memorial hospital where her condition was reported favorable.

Swan Wins In Battle With Dog At Ridge Hill Pond
A white swan at Ridge Hill Memorial cemetery ponds fought a dog that attacked it. The swan struck the dog with its wing after the dog approached, sending the dog under the water five times. it did not resurface. The swan swam away calmly to continue foraging.

Firemen Respond Twice To Town Grass And Vehicle Fires
Elyria firemen were called to two incidents over the weekend one Saturday afternoon to douse a grass fire and another Sunday afternoon for a vehicle fire.
