Lorain police with U S Marshals and county task forces arrested seventeen in a citywide crack down on gangs and drugs. Abbe Road water main project starts
Abbe Road in Elyria begins a 12 inch water main replacement costing about 1.5 million dollars and slated for completion by late November. City Engineer Mukund Moghe says the 1950s pipe caused repeated breaks and the project will be funded by the Water Department enterprise account with Cioffi & Son Construction Co. selected for the work amid planned 20 year mains replacement.

Day of reckoning threat targets Lorain judge
Richard Sagert, facing felony charges of aggravated menacing and making a terroristic threat, sent a profanity laced letter dated May 28 to Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Mark Betleski demanding a reopened unemployment case. Sagert accused the judge of theft, criminal activity, and warned of illness to the judge's family. He urged the judge to arrest him so he could expose the judge's alleged crimes.
