County eyes deal to cut dump fees with Allied Waste

Lorain County weighs a sliding scale rebate plan to Allied Waste that would lower tipping fees at the New Russia Township landfill. The district would pay 75 cents per ton on the next 200000 tons after 200000, rising to 1.50 and 2.00 per ton for higher volumes, plus a 1 per ton payment to the county fund. Allied dumped 927179 tons last year, including 613386 outside the county, and may bring in about 1 million outside tons if fees drop.
