Mayo River irrigation to be expanded with large dam
Mexico's Mayo Valley aims to irrigate thousands more acres as the Los Mercales dam and canal system, funded at about 200 million pesos, is set to begin in October. A San Francisco contractor will build the dam under direction from reclamation engineer Louis C. TAM, with several canals and laterals planned and a reservoir 180 feet high and 3,000 feet long.
