Hale Tragedy as Car Hits Hale Home Auto
Mrs Beulah Hale 57 and her son Neil Hale 30 were injured and killed in a street car collision near the Hale homestead Stop 98 Oberlin road. Motors W L Wilson and conductor J F Knittle operated the east bound car at about forty miles an hour. Neil Hale was seriously injured and taken to Memorial hospital. He suffered eight broken ribs and head abrasion. Mrs Hale died within minutes. Funeral for Mrs Hale Friday at home conducted by Rev Edwin Kirby with burial at Carlisle cemetery.

Elyria Post No 12 of the American Legion held a large meeting at the hall. The poppy sale yielded 502.29 and will go to the swimming pool fund. The post voted to buy a silk Legion standard for Memorial Hall. The Eagles can use Legion colors. New member applications were accepted. Walter Allen was reported ill at Memorial hospital. Commander Virgil Jasper presented the charter to L D Hamlin for safekeeping. Boxing bouts capped the evening with Goodman v Cunningham and Taylor v Marsho.
