Pooches aid Linda Yingling with independent life after service
Linda Yingling, a former Navy member and registered nurse, received a skilled companion dog named Tina through Canine Companions for Independence after two years on a waiting list. Tina, a 2-year-old yellow Labrador, helps with doors, retrieving items, and reaching objects beyond arm's length, enabling greater independence. Canine Companions has placed over 5,800 dogs since 1975 and relies on volunteers to breed, raise, and train dogs at six regional facilities, offering lifelong support at no charge to recipients.
