NAACP Faults HUD Rehab Plans for Public Housing Funds

The NAACP criticizes changes to a housing rehabilitation program funded by HUD and the city. It cites billion-dollar style projects, like $173,000 in repairs including a driveway and aluminum siding on unnecessarily prioritized homes, denying essential repairs to others. The group says the updated plan favors affluent areas and reduces aid to those with greatest need. Independent officials have not replied to the NAACP’s requests for comment.
