South Amherst considers 1 mill levy on November ballot

South Amherst Village council, 5-1, approves drafting an ordinance to place a 1 mill current operating expenses levy renewal on the November ballot. The levy would raise about $4,500 to $5,000 yearly, largely for police and fire salaries. Councilman Gladys Reazer opposed, citing small amount. Mayor Knoble noted revenue sharing ending in 1976 would require the funds for paving Annis Road and cemetery work. Other actions included water system evaluation, dissolution of mayor's court effective June 5, budget meeting set for June 23, rate hike from Browning-Ferris, and a $75 curb fund expenditure.
