Washington AP reports prospects for House override of President Ford's veto of an environmental strip mining bill look dim. The vote hinges on two thirds, with sponsors reporting a close count and Democrats suggesting a failure range from six to 25 votes amid a House showdown scheduled later today. Federal Energy Administrator Frank F. Zarb claimed Republicans have enough pro veto votes in headcounts. The measure seeks environmental curbs on coal strip mining and has lingered in Congress for four years.
