Louis M. Cillo, 41, suspected of robbing nine banks in Florida and Ohio since April 24, was arrested Friday in Florida. FBI officials say he evaded capture between Ohio and Florida after a January release from federal prison. He previously served time for five 1981 Elyria Lorain area robberies and was found outside a Pensacola motel with bags packed awaiting a taxi.
Lorain City Council member Vinson D. Shipley was ticketed for driving 59 mph in a 35 mph zone on West Erie Avenue with a suspended license. Police say Shipley, 49, could not explain the 1997 stop cited as the cause of the current issue, and he admitted his license had paperwork suggesting a lapse. His daughter and 2-year old granddaughter were in the car during the stop.
Elyria Ohio. William Ivancic, a school board member, handed diplomas to his twin daughters Audrey and Rachael Ivancic at Elyria High School graduation 1998. Developer Mitchell Schneider of First Interstate Development Co. requests rezoning or ordinance changes and aims to keep the matter alive, with a June 1 work session on the agenda at City Hall.
Ford Motor Co and Honda Motor Co agreed to pay civil penalties and provide recalls to settle allegations of tampering with emission controls. Honda faces a record 17.1 million settlement covering 1.7 million cars, with potential total costs up to 267 million. Ford's action includes 60,000 Econoline vans, a 2.5 million penalty, and a recall to fix defects.
