New Life Wesleyan Church marks its 175th anniversary with an Old-Fashioned Day Saturday 1 to 5 p.m. at 11149 West River Road Columbia Station, plus a Sunday worship history and music. Columbia Middle School students shine at State Science Day
Four Columbia Middle School students joined 1,136 participants from grades five to 12 at the 70th State Science Day in Columbus on May 12. Kaitlyn Miller earned an excellent rating for Do You Want to Build a Rainbow, while Julia Bosworth Nathan Matzelle and Samantha Geiger earned superior ratings. Samantha won the first place American Water Works Association Award for grades five and six and a $125 prize, plus a $50 honorable mention from the Geological Society for Fertilizers Effect on Algae Growth. Kaitlyn, Julia, and Nathan won various awards including a $1,000 College Advantage 529 Plan Award for Nathan. Samantha previously qualified as a fifth-grader last year.
