Deny Stay of Execution for John Hickman
In Portsmouth Ohio on June 6 the fourth district court of appeals denied Hickman a new trial and a stay of execution for the murder of patrolman Dao Garrett in Chillicothe. Hickman told his attorney Louis Dar the plea came after Judge Felter J. Blosser of Ross County certs pleas court had denied it. Appeals judges Middletown and Mauck heard the appeal and the case likely goes to the state supreme court.

Blaze at gasoline oil plant injures owner and destroys plant
A large fire at Rogers Oil Co on Starker road between Elyria and Lorain ignited five large gasoline and fuel oil tanks. More than 50 000 gallons fed the blaze. Carlyn Rogers, son of an owner, was injured attempting to control the fire as a concrete plant nearby was also destroyed. The blaze burned through the night with heavy smoke drawing many spectators.
