Man pleads no contest in Amherst dog stabbing case
Gerald Miller of Lakewood pleaded no contest to one count of animal cruelty in Oberlin Municipal Court for fatally stabbing Maya the dog on Red Tailed Lane in Amherst on March 10. Sentencing set after a pre sentence investigation with a hearing at 11:15 a.m. July 18.

Elyria police ask for public help identifying a man suspected of breaking into Roll Arena on Cleveland Street May 27. A security camera captured a white male in a purple or blue sweatshirt, entering at about 3 a.m. and using a claw hammer to break the change machine. Fairview Hospital Opens Expansive New Emergency Department
Fairview Hospital debuts an 83 million two story 155000 square foot expansion adding 55 private beds in the emergency department 16 bed children area and a 38 bed ICU part of the Cleveland Clinic system. The facility aims to speed diagnosis and treatment with dedicated X ray CAT scan lab and EKG spaces and targets discharge within two and a half hours.
