Escaped inmate and pilot captured in Florida ditch
Steven Whitsett, a 28 year old child molester who fled a treatment center by helicopter, and pilot Clifford Burkhart, 23, were captured in a ditch near Interstate 95 four miles from the center. Authorities described a dramatic daylight escape, the crash near an orange grove, and a weeks‑long search through orange groves and swamps before the men were apprehended without heavy resistance.
