Seven still on ERA hunger strike in Illinois
Springfield reports seven women fasting for the Equal Rights Amendment remain spirited and well cared for. Mary Ann Beall’s husband Raymond Bridge and their two daughters visited on day 20 as Beall’s chest pains eased after a normal X ray. Bridges says he stayed at home and supported the fasters while questions about their condition spread. Sonia Johnson and Mary Barnes are among fasters using a wheelchair in recent days.
